There is nothing more wonderful that creating a look from head to hem. The brief for this outfit was to create an understated but elegant look which could be worn throughout the day to the Derby this summer. An outfit which would look as beautiful and immaculate at the start of the day and then after a car journey, dinner and entertaining look just as pristine.
Here we created a bespoke dress using our ‘cape shift’ style, translating this simple but modern and demure silhouette by using our divine french leavers lace in oyster. The beautiful greyed- off mousey hue to the oyster is both luxurious and flattering. A divine shade which comes even more to life with the nude slipper satin inner, giving a pretty peachy brightness which helps pick out the beauty of the lace itself.
Edwina Ibbotson, our chosen couture milliner created the fantastic hat which she hand dyed in tones of the lace itself and blocked in Pinopok. The Derby is not as theatrical as Royal Ascot, and so it was important that the appropriate nature of the millinery and dress were at the right level for the event, and also, pieces which could be worn again to different occasions.
We would like to thank our wonderful client Belinda Strudwick for giving us the opportunity to share her beautiful photographs. Her fabulous styling with the stunning hair twist and sensational jewellery really set of the dress and millinery to its finest..x
