So excited that this dress has finally happened.
Developing the prints and producing them on just the right base cloth can sometimes take such time,..tooing and froing to Italy.
I have had this dress in my mind for so long, getting so impatient ,..but developing everything from scratch sometimes
requires more patience than my fashion mind allows.
However here is the Tea Cup Fifties Dress , ready just in time for the spring sunshine.
Our geniuses on Lake Como have achieved wonders with the new Italian silk cotton fabric . It is so light to the touch, printing our
beautiful fine artwork has seemingly added to the nature of it. The dress looks and feels like a dream and wonderful to wear.
As fine and light as a china tea cup and hopefully a classic dress which can be treasured for years.
Corseted, seamed and padded in our Boudoir style the silhouette has become dreamy and romantic but yet has an edge
which makes it versatile with various footwear m from 70’s wooden sandals through to fun brogues and simple peep toes too.
You can wasp it in with a hard belt or leave it simple , styled only with your hands in the pockets while you dream along.
The beautiful model and designer looks effortless and wonderfully romantic in the shoot at her home in Wales for Hello magazine. Heart melting.
Her cherry lip stain and simple clip are enough to lift the pop of colour in the 30s inspired vintage tea dress in the stunning photograph below…x
Rebecca came back to us through our friend Kate who owns KJ’s Laundry , a fabulous New York style boutique in Marylebone Lane London.
She originally bought a vintage print tea dress from us a few years ago and it had so much become her favourite dress that she tried to seek out a version for
her wedding! A less formal wedding with lots of personalisation , a few things home made,..and packed full of integrity.
Happy to oblige as we were obviously flattered …and as the new launch of our cocktail bridal range is very much on our radar we set on the exciting project, to create our first Bridal Tea Dress.
What could give us, ( especially me) more pleasure:-)
We found THE most gorgeous piece of hammered silk satin imaginable. Not quite Ballet shoe, not quite Cosmetic Pink,….Just the perfect perfect blushy, beigey pink which would
not only suit the dress and its vintage origin but also the rosey cheeked English skin tone of Rebecca.
Thankfully she loved as much as we, and with only 3 metres of it available,…never to be found again it was just meant to be.
We added some fine French levers lace ( with the colour name of Ginger Snap ..we couldn’t resist) to the inside neck tie and faced the whole tulip sleeve and neckline tie in buttercream silk satin to give it a tonal and textural contrast.
We kept the dress un-lined to ensure that it wasn’t too heavy and didnt’ lose its sexiness and closeness to the bust and lower back . A perfect demure dress with a cheekily sexy fit!
Perfect.
Here it is in the making,…..and scroll down for the most fabulous bride …x
Complete with Bellapocella head piece and 40’s style peep toes from Anthropologie.
Sarah mixes up the jet black look by teaming it with nude sandals. We love these fabulous private patent-leather sandals by Jimmy Choo from http://www.net-a-porter.com. http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/6030
